2015 Nissan Maxima specs and review
Not so long ago, the Maxima sedan was billed as a four-door sports vehicle also offering a manual gearbox and sportier dealing with. But the 2015 Nissan Maxima is, typically, just a sleeker spin-off of its Maxima loved ones sedan (and the last-generation one at that), having a distinction that’s based more on styling compared to performance. Today something more like “four-door coupe” may be closer to the truth. The current Maxima choose comfort of and refined driving feel over a chance to toss the car around turns. That’s not really a bad exchange, though, especially if you’re buying car with flowing, unique design, an upscale interior and more information on features.
Little has changed since the Maxima were redesigned last year, but this model has managed to maintain a brand new look despite rolling into its fifth 12 months in 2014. Much of that can be credited to the truth that the Maxima doesn’t really look like other things on the road with its low grille, high rear haunches, Coke-bottle fender curves and big wheels, it looks more like a rear-drive sports vehicle than the front wheel drive sedan that it is. Inside, the control center will look acquainted to Infiniti owners and the Maxima’s soft lines and finishes a minimum of flirt with the edge of Nissan’s much more upscale offerings.
At the base level, the 2015 Nissan Maxima does really maximize the amount of standard conveniences (like a power moonroof, energy front seats, and Intelligent Key entry as well as starting), as well as optional extras. But if adding a lot of those extras, you should be aware that probably the most desirable ones come only by stepping as much as the more expensive SV model. New for this past year was an SV Value Package that provides nine-speaker Bose audio, satellite radio, heated entrance seats, a heated steering wheel, and warmed outside mirrors.
The Sport Package has been enhanced with a seven-inch monitor, iPod/USB online connectivity, a rearview monitor, and a climate-controlled driver’s chair. A Dark Hyper Silver wheel finish (from final year’s Limited Edition Package) was new too. A power moonroof, dual-zone climate control, energy front seats, keyless entry, an Intelligent Crucial entry and starting system with a six-disc changer, and steering-wheel audio controls are standard, though, while a heated steering wheel and cooled front seats are among several choices.
While the 2015 Nissan Maxima specs and review might not be an all-out sport sedan or sports vehicle, it does perform smoothly and confidently, and also the acceleration from its 290-horsepower, 3 5-liter V-6 engine includes a strong, relaxed demeanor in ordinary driving, where it is effective with the automatic continuously variable automatic tranny (CVT). There are available steering-wheel paddle shifters, in addition to a manual sport mode for the CVT, and you will tap into a series of simulated equipment ratios for high-performance driving.
The letdown is that despite these, you don’t get the level of control that enthusiasts might expect (and the available manual gearbox that was previously a Maxima talking point has been background, for years). Compared to most other front-wheel-drive sedans, the 2015 Nissan Maxima feels edgier and much more fun to drive when the road becomes tight and curvy it’s a sporty calibration, having a firm ride, yet at the same time it’s supple enough to maintain passengers content. The standard front seats tend to be good, although the better-bolstered ones you get with the Sport Package would have been a welcome upgrade to some.
The back seat is officially great for three, but it’s really just good for two adults and headroom could be a bit tight compared to other sedans this particular size. Interior detailing is superb and truly luxury-caliber, with soft leather and carefully matched trims. But the Maxima might not meet all family shoppers’ requirements: While its feature arranged is strong for safety, ‘acceptable’ ratings within the IIHS roof strength test have kept the Maxima in the top tier.
